BY CAR
Hawick is located on the main A7 route (which runs between Edinburgh and Carlisle) in the southern half of the Scottish Borders.
From Edinburgh and Midlothian, follow the A7 route south to Hawick or if travelling south on the A68, follow the route south towards Jedburgh before turning right onto the A698 (just south of Ancrum and before Jedburgh) signposted Denholm and Hawick.
If you are travelling from Peebles and the western Borders, follow the A72 and then the A707 to Selkirk before following the A7 from Selkirk to Hawick.
If you are travelling by road from Glasgow, it is possible to travel via Peebles (see route above) or alternatively you can travel to Edinburgh on the M8 Motorway and A720 Edinburgh City Bypass before following the A7 south to Hawick.
From Newcastle-upon-Tyne, travel along the A696, then the A68 through Northumberland National Park and into the Scottish Borders at Carter Bar. Just after Carter Bar turn left onto the A6088 and then follow the A698 into Hawick.
If you are travelling from Carlisle, simply follow the A7 from Carlisle to Hawick.

BY BUS
From Edinburgh:
From the city centre, catch Borders Buses from the Scottish capital to head further south and into the Scottish Borders. Take service number X95 to Carlisle which travels via Hawick.
From Carlisle:
Take Borders Buses service number X95 to Edinburgh via Hawick.
From Berwick-upon-Tweed:
Catch Borders Buses services 60 or 67 to head to the heart of the Borders and Galashiels Transport Interchange, where you can change onto the X95 service to Hawick.
BY TRAIN
From Edinburgh Waverley:
The Borders Railway offers regular services to Midlothian and the Scottish Borders, stopping at Eskbank, Newtongrange and Gorebridge in Midlothian, and Stow, Galashiels and Tweedbank in the Scottish Borders. Local buses to Hawick are available from Galashiels and Tweedbank.
From the South:
Travelling from the south, you can connect to the Borders Railway at Edinburgh Waverley or switch to Borders Buses for local connections at Berwick-upon-Tweed. Alternatively, the West Coast Line from London stops at Carlisle where you can connect with local bus services to Hawick.
