David is a former ‘Sheep Farmer of the Year’ winner and, as well as winning conservation awards, concentrates on running the farm operation with Claire and Sarah.

David has been at Hallrule Farm most of his life, on what was a family estate, ‘Wells estate’ which was owned by the Usher family. David was lucky enough to buy his farm in 1996 and in 2016 he and wife Claire were able to buy Billerwell next door from a retiring farmer. Between their own farms and a rented farm, they are now farming 1600 acres with crops, cattle, sheep and now on Billerwell, their exciting new deer enterprise.

But these hard-working farmers also have a great love of travel, and it would be their visits to New Zealand, Africa, South Asia and Europe which would provide the inspiration for their very own tiny holiday accommodation, but in a big Borders location. Having made the pond in January 2018, the family realised they had a dream location.

With stunning views across the Rule Valley to the south and to the north you look back up to the hill of Ruberslaw where it towers majestically above you. With the deer now in the fields around the Tiny Home, this was to the family, heaven.
